"May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; may those who love Your
salvation always say, "Let God be exalted!" (Psalm 70:4)
If you count yourself among those who seek God and who love God's salvation,
then lift up a prayer of praise to Him.
Beyond thanking God for the things He has done, in a prayer of praise we
proclaim who He is.
When we are afraid, praising Almighty God draws our focus away from the
situation and back to Him. When we are worried, praising God reminds us of
His goodness to us.
Therefore, rather than offering praise only when we feel thankful, praising
God is a discipline and a tool that propels our thoughts into proper
perspective.
Praising God is something we should practice constantly, not only in prayer,
but aloud in our daily conversations. As the writer of Hebrews says,
"Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of
praise -- the fruit of lips that confess His name" (Hebrews 13:15).
Offer God a prayer of praise right now, and then confess His name throughout
your day.
~O my Strength, I sing praise to You; You, O God, are my fortress, my loving
God (Psalm 59:17). You are mighty, O LORD, and Your faithfulness surrounds
You (Psalm 89:8). You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and
honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they were
created and have their being (Revelation 4:11). Great and marvelous are Your
deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are Your ways, King of the ages. Who
will not fear You, O Lord, and bring glory to Your name? For You alone are
holy. All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous acts
have been revealed (Revelation 15:3,4).
