From another group:
The Lampstand
"Then you shall make a lampstand of pure gold..."
(Exodus 25:31 NASB)
The KJV reading of "candlestick" is definitely in
error. Leviticus 24:2-4 notes that oil was burned
in these lamps ...not candles !
The location of the lampstand was inside the
Holy Place (second chamber).
Should be pretty obvious at this juncture that the
Tabernacle furnishings passages reply heavily on
materials to convey doctrine.
The lampstand is made of "pure gold" (tahor zahab).
In the ark and the table this has Divinity [gold] as
contrasted with humanity [wood].
Here we have only gold [Divinity].
So the solution is rather simple:
The lampstand provided illumination in the second
chamber for the table and the altar.
Divinity [gold lampstand] illuminates Christ's work
[table and altar].
Bro. Rat is very tempted to say that the lampstand
is God's work of regeneration in the Believer.
At the very least, a doctrine of only divine illumination
permits a person to understand Christ's salvific work.
