Hi Reeva,
It is too bad because you are both missing out on some wonderful time 
together but it takes two to make a good relationship.  I do have some 
family left but they do not live here.  I can't say they are great 
communicators either.  The bad thing my sister does not want my guide dog in 
her house.  She will say why don't you come to see me but then she will say 
I don't like dogs in my house but you can bring your dog.  I can't bring 
myself to take my guide where she is not wanted because dogs know when 
people do not like them.
