I understand all those things, of course, with Gretchen still dating and x
druggy boyfriend.  She still smokes and last weekend, Saturday night, she
stayed out all night.  When she came home Sunday, she went right downstairs
and stayed away all day until she left again.  She was either too drunk to
drive, just decided to spend the night with her boyfriend, or too high to
come home in case we found out.  So, the best we can tell, nothing has
changed for her.
