If the antenna is properly matched at its feed point then it
makes no difference how much feed line you use except that more
has more actual loss.
As mentioned, probably not a good idea to shorten feed lines
installed by manufacturers.
some particular antenna systems use specific lengths of coax as
Lengthening by Adding 10 to 20 feet of cable between the rig and a
mag mount shouldn't be a problem, particularly if it lets you get
the antenna up higher and more in the clear.
An aluminum cookey sheet makes a nice cheap portable ground plane
for mag mounts.
don't forget to eat the cookies first of course.
