Um...let's not jump to conclusions here. I have no idea whether or not
Debbie was wearing a helmet and (personal opinion here) I can't quite
imagine, knowing her as I did, that she wasn't.

No, she died as the result of accidentally being knocked from her and her
husband's tandem bike by a motorist. The accident, itself, was very minor,
but she struck her head, went into a coma, and died within three days or so.
Many of us assumed that she'd died of complications from diabetes because
she'd been having some very serious health issues that were diabetes-related
in the months before the accident, but she'd come through those and was
actually doing better.

I believe Debbie died of diabetic complications, but I am not certain. I
think her husband is keeping it going, but I don't know if there is still a
mailing list or not.
