I totally agree.  Around here on the morning news they often play sound bites of the highlights from the previous nights games.  Quite often these are taken 
from the tv broadcasts.  Most of the time you can't even hear a word they're saying because of the crowd noise.  

When my dad was alive we often enjoyed watching the football games together on a Sunday afternoon.  I finally completely gave up trying to follow the 
game on tv and use a radio with an earphone.  I got some interference from the tv, but it was still much better than trying to figure out what was really going 
on from the tube.
