did they not have a trimmer? I do recall putting a ic22a on frequency
while visiting LA in 1976 by setting up two rigs one synthesize and than
transmitting with the synthesize rig and the crystal rig while listening
on a third rig. Than zero beeting the crystal rig at least netted the
two. Checking with a repeater with a high low beep which let you know
your input frequency with reference to the repeater receiver was the
frosting on the cake.

Yep I remember those. I had a friend who had one of the glbs on an
hr2a.
That was some radio in its day, very small.
Of course, had to buy crystals and no one had any good way to put them
on
frequency.
