Kenwood TH-F6A is a good hand held, any Kenwood one or the Icom IC-T90A. I'm
the same way, I much rather HF but run a lot of traffic nets and am active
in RACES, ARES, Skywarn, and a lot of local events so I have the UHF/VHF
radio on all the time in case I'm needed but if I have my choice and want to
have fun, I go for that HF radio every time I can. I even have an Icom 706
in my go kit that I can set up fast to have fun with away from home.
