Dave,

The radio can be set to beep whenever the buttons are pressed, and at
certain times when tuning with the tuning-control on top.  The beeps change
frequency for some indications, but I haven't worked with the menus enough
to be able to tell you what the different beeps mean.  When I received the
radio, I managed to learn how to set the v.f.o. and memory frequencies, and
p.l. tones.  I don't care about most of the other functions which can be set
with the menus.

I am sure that, with some practice you could learn to manage most of the
menus.
