Hi:
I have had a chance to play with an IC-7000.
I am reasonably certain that the microphone is a very specific one designed
to work only with the IC-7000, or at least, not with priorly availible
radios.
There is a great amount of function control from the microphone pad which
makes operating pretty nice.
The size of the rig still shocks me, not much bigger then your typical 2M
mobile rig.
It works wonderfully with HRD as well.
The menus do not speak, and only S meter, frequency and mode are spoken.

I found the receiver to be very nice indeed especially on HF.
The built in digital recorder is also a nice feature along with the voice
recorder.
the front pannel is layed out neatly and with some amount of accessibility
in mind...buttons are shaped differently so they can be easily located with
regard to the flat vidio screen.
