With some practice you can find your way through the menus of the V7.
Several of the menu options give an error beep when you try to "open" the
menu by pressing the right arrow (F3) key.  Menu options 8, 9, 10, and 11
all give an error beep and this is the only place where there are 4 options
grouped together that give an error.  Agree it would be better if it would
just beep different on option 1, but you have to go with whatever works.

I suppose if you program 38 reference memories with say a generic frequency
each with a different tx tone it would work quite nicely.
Most radios these days have so many memory locations that 38 junk memories
wouldn't even be a drop in the bucket.
There are always ways to make a radio workable if not completely accessible.
Even the TM V7A isn't totally accessible.  It has no menu reference point to
let you know where you are in the menus.
Even the yaesu has that at least.
