John,

I see your point if you've got very limited space; just more stuff to 
knock around.  At least the control head for my 480 has a couple of 
different mounting options.  There's a base which has four rubber 
feet, and another one with screw holes in it for mounting in a fixed 
location.  I use the one with the feet because I like being able to 
move the head around the table.  My cables are strung so that it's 
not easy to knock the head off the table, and I haven't broken the 
cable after almost two years.  Do the control heads for the dual band 
radios have any kind of mounting options?  I would think they would have to.
