I wish yahoo would do this as well, but obviously, they haven't done
anything that I know of. It's not a surprise to me that they've done this at
qrz, thought it would come at some point. 73 de Dan VA3ETS

I wrote them a very nasty e-mail and it as as follows.

Message
hello to all concerned. I just became a new operator, and went to set up a
qrz account so I could put information about myself and just have an account
in general.
I'm a totally blind ham operator, and when I got to the form to fill out,
you've got a security box that has letters that you have to see on the
screen and type it into a box.
This is not possible with out an audio link.
If there was an audio link that read the letters, then we could input them
into the box using our screen reader technology.
Is there any way around this problem for other blind ham users that wish to
create an account?
This is getting to be a huge problem with many websites as they are trying
to prevent spammers from signing up with fake accounts, how ever, it is
making it very difficult for blind users to access information and create
accounts with out the assistance of a sighted coworker or family member.
all these companies or organizations need to do, is make an audio link
google had such a problem and after the blind community haggled them over it
and gave them a sign partition, they finally got there buts off the ground
and did something about it!
Just a suggestion, to put an audio link in place so that other blind or low
vision users don't have this problem.
Please get back with me and let me know if there is anything that we can do
so that we can also create our own accounts without sighted assistance.
Thanks.

Subject: another qrz.com question

Hello,
I attempted to register on qrz.com but was thwarted by one of those security
code problems. You're supposed to enter a code shown in a box
on the screen. Gues I'll have to wait for sighted help. So much for
accessible web sites <grin>.
