Hi;
That's a thought. I don't think I've seen polarized disconnects but
something to look into.

one thing you could do Richard is to cut the wires about six inches from the
plug on both the original cord and also the new one for the 480 and use
polarized quick disconnects and then you could use both kinds of plugs from
the original power supply.  Ed K7Uc
