well the nice thing is at least, that ham radio deluxe will give you mode
and frequency read out as well as some frequency entry control.
for the top end DX/contester rigs like the ft1000 series, you don't really
need much other then frequency readout anyway if you are contesting...and
interfacing the 1000 with HRD, you can get much of the logging information
you need as well.
HRD has that nifty voice output which actually has a hotkey for frequency.
