It's not deaf, but the digital receiver is certainly not as quiet as 
an analog radio.  Compare the same signal on two radios and you will 
hear it on both, but it will depend on what you are used to, as to 
how quieting the signal is.
Remember you have normal pre-amp and attenuator settings.
