Quite by chance, my first QSO was with a YL who was a volunteer reader for a 
college student who was blind.  Meanwhile, two days after I got my own rig 
with VFO control, I called CQ on the 75 meter MARS frequency.  Immediately, 
I wrote a card to The FCC and explained what had happened and what I would 
do to correct the problem.  I didn't have the band edge marker on.
