In my fost, I said it  reads maximum power.  It is set  to a 
numeric level which can be read.  To me, that's good enough to 
set the output lelel for purposes of driving amplifiers.   The 
spoken prompt says TX  power.  Of course, I am sure that every 
Ham knows that one can not read output power without a carier.
