Hi Reeva,
    This may not be the best suggestion but radio shack used to sell a small 
battery eliminator that converted wall current to voltages ranging from 3 to 
9 VDC. It also, came with a number of adaptors so it might have one that 
fits your radio. This might work for charging your batteries at least until 
you find something better.
