Hi:

Thanks to all who wrote suggestions.  Finally, I did what we're supposed to 
do, I read the Manual.  Thanks to "I Can Work This Thing."  Answer was 
buried in split frequency operation.  Apparently I disabled that function by 
pushing the wrong button.  Now all is well.
