well, good accessible hand held is the Kenwood THF6A, it's 2, 220 and 440. It's beeps can pretty much tell you what you're doing. It's a good little radio, I've had mine for about 4 years now. It's had a ton of use and I've had a lot of fun with it.

  Subject: transceiver sugestion

  Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help me with some suggestions for an
accessible transceiver. I just past the exam and am waiting on the license.
I'm looking for something thats handheld dual band or more and under $500.
  any help would be appreciated.
