We spoke with the dialysis people today. We have an appointment June 9th
for an evaluation regarding the tube that is placed in the abdomen to allow
dialysis to be done at home. They say Medicare will pay 80% and usually a
dialysis person pays somewhere around 2 to three hundred a montyh. There
is a state program we might qualify for that could help.
In the beginning Ben will hae to do the dialysis treatments four times a day
each time taking 30 minutes, later on, after four to 8 weeks he can perhaps
qualify for a cycler machine which would work while he sleeps.
They train you in the office for a week, and then come out to the house for
several visits to make sure everything is being done properly.
So...guess we have a lot of new things to get used to. Ben can only have 32
ounces of liquid per day, that would be hard for me I am always thirsty.
Well, we will see what happens.
He can try and apply for a transplant, perhaps one of us would be a match.
But that is further down the line, need to get his health better first.
