Rhonda,
I've heard that story only with a different twist. A hiker stayed
out too long and began his descent after dark. He slipped and began
to fall and cried out to God for help. Suddenly, he brushed up
against a branch that was sticking out of the mountainside and,
thinking quickly, caught hold of it. Now, his fall had been broken,
but he thought that he was stuck on the side of the mountain hanging
between heaven and earth. It was too dark for him to see
anything. He cried out to God again for help. God asked the hiker,
"do you trust me?" The hiker replied, "of course Lord." So God told
him to let go, but the hiker refused. He hung on that mountain side
all night. Imagine his surprise when the sun rose the next morning
and he could see that he was only a few feet from the ground.
