  Format and erase operations typically operate on a partition, not an 
entire drive.  So you should not have any problem with this.  The exact 
mechanism you use to get to these functions will vary depending on the 
Windows version, or you can use third-party tools such as Partition Magic 
which can also be used to copy, resize, and re-arrange partitions as well.
