Hi, all.

As many of you know, I have been working with a Predator screwdriver-type HF
antenna on the back of an 18-foot camping travel trailer.

Last week-end, I had the chance to test out the antenna extensively, and my
results were surprisingly good on 75, 40, and 20 meters. I use the antenna
with a 102-inch whip, and tune it with an old SWR meter and a Conway tuning
aid.

I do have one problem, though.

It seems that every time I keyed the rig on 20 meters, either in SSB or CW,
I would kick the trailer's air conditioner off. Nothing else seemed to be
affected--just the air conditioner. After the air conditioner tripped off,
it would re-start itself again, but then get kicked off when i keyed up
again on 20.

Obviously, there is some RF getting in somewhere and doing the tripping.

I have the Predator antenna grounded to the frame of the trailer, and the
IC718 HF rig grounded to the frame also. Obviously, that's not sufficient.

Should I install an earth ground? Would that help?

Does anyone have any other simple suggestions or explanations for this
oddity?

Thanks much, and best 73 from Tom Behler: kB8TYJ
