Sure, you can operate on 440.
A good place to look is either ham radio outlet or amateur electronics
supply

ok stupid question here, i should know the answer but forgot..does a tch

class have 440 privileges?
and where if not here, would i start looking for radios, i mean what 
stores woukld people recomend and which ones are ones to steer clear of?
