Subject: Old House Expo seeks keynote speaker!!

Last year in Kalamazoo we kicked off what we hope will become an annual
event - the Old House Expo. The Expo and the Old House Network attracts
old house lovers to help them find appropriate rehab and maintenance
techniques for their old houses. We teach window rehab, masonry
repointing painting, hazards like lead and asbestos , gardening and much
more. The Expo last January attracted 700 people (after an overnight
snow that dumped 6 inches) with our keynote speaker Bob Yapp - thanks
Bob.

So this year we are looking for a keynote speaker to talk about old
houses to folks who love them - or in some cases feel they are stuck
with them. The entry fee to the expo is only $5.00 and we have a vendors
hall where contractors and suppliers buy display space. We are on a
tight budget but we would like someone who is passionate about
preserving old houses and knowledgeable about their rehabilitation and
stewardship. Someday, many of these people may be recruited into the
ranks of preservationists who are looking beyond their sash ropes, eaves
and porch rails, but for now they are looking for expertise.

We can offer accommodations at a hotel or B&B plus some travel money,
but we are on a very tight budget. Someone in the Midwest would be great
so they are familiar with our climate.

As of the end of October the Old House Network is a non-profit
corporation in Michigan and we are hoping to have our final application
for 501(c)3 status to the IRS by the end of the year. We are in the
process of updating our website aw www.oldhousenetwork.org.

We would appreciate any leads on speakers. Last year the Expo and Bob
were responsible for giving encouragement to two different families that
said without knowing the support system was available they would never
have bought their old houses.

Thanks for your help
