Hi guys!
got this from one of the Dancing Dots lists. FYI, Dancing Dots is a company
that helps blind musicians produce Braille and/or audio music.
Sharon
Hi all,
Some of you may know that I work for Blazie in the U.K.. A few others may
also know that I'm quitting at the end of August to start my own business
aimed at informing manufacturers, educationalists, etc. of the need to
improve access to music and music technology. I've been trying to do this
for a number of years now in my spare time, but it's just not possible
without being able to devote my full attention to it (and being callable on
the phone 9 to 5).
I've got a number of ideas to help push things forward and I'll inform the
list as things firm up but I thought of one idea that I could implement
immediately. In response to the recent thread on the crucial need for
statistics of affected people in our area of interest, I've generated the
following form page:
http://www.raisedbar.net/petition.htm
I'll be using any information generated by this form to convince
manufacturers, suppliers and any other group we need to apply pressure to,
so please read the page and submit your details if you feel you're able to.
I'm working on a method to report the number of entries submitted in an
accessible form, and I'll add this functionality to the page as soon as I
solve the problem, but I thought it was more important to start generating
numbers quickly.
Please fill in the form and tell all of your friends, colleagues and
teachers about it - this information will only be useful if we get
significant totals. This is a simple way that you can all make a difference
and actively create some pressure for change.
Best wishes.
Tim Burgess
