this reminds me of a story I heard:

A woman once prayed that God would show her what His heartbeat sounded like. 
She was on the beach.  Suddenly she felt a strong sense of compassion for 
people.  i don't remember all the details, but in essence, the Lord was 
telling her that He wants more children in His kingdom.  More children. 
That's the sound of His heartbeat.
