I look around me,
For a sense of security,
Something stable,
Something true,
What once was solid,
Now seems shakey,
So God I turn to You
I look around me for security,
For words I can believe,
My mind is filled with suspicion,
I am afraid I'll be deceived,
I want so to believe and hope for the good,
But people have a choice,
Don't always do what they should,
And so, God I turn to you.
I look around me for consistency,
Something tried and true,
A promise kept,
Forgiveness given,
Evidence of aLife that is more than spoken words,
But a real actual actions lived in
And so,
God I turn to You
Anger, bitterness,
Hurt, strife,
Sorrow, disappointment,
Questions, are all part of life,
We all make mistakes,
We all fall,
No one is immune,
I know the words to say,
But my own heart betrays me,
I am not as faithful as I want to be.
And so,
God I turn to you
Where else can I go,
Who else would know,
The answers I most desperately need,
Who knows the truth,
Not hidden or changed,
I guess I look too much at the world and those around me,
When I should be looking at You.
