Sorry, there's no speech option for the TM-271 and the speech board in the
2530 will not work in the newer Kenwood radios. The 2530 uses the VS-1 and
the new Kenwood radios use the VS-3 speech board. The VS-1 is probably the
most valuable component of the 2530 as it will work in several older HF
rigs, such as the TS-440.

Regards, Ken

OK, I'm getting interested in this TM271A. I currently have a Kenwood 2530
with the VS voice board but never really grew to like it much.

Does the 271A have a speech board option? If so, which one does it use?
Perhaps I can just move the VS from the 2530.

p.s. to john, Do you want a 2530 or a Klegg FM28 for packet? I have both
for sale.

Tnx es 73, KY2D

I'm actually going to get a couple more of the TM271A's, 1 more for
backup/go kit/what ever needs it and I'm looking for a new packet radio
because what I'm using now isn't long for this world and I might just buy
another one for that, I'd rather get something cheaper like the ADI one or
something but I might just spring for that, I mean, if I get out of packet
just plug the mic in and I have 1 of the best 2 meter FM radios I've ever
had sitting right there.

Hi

I have an Icom that is about 5 years old. It is almost totally in
accessible. I have thought of getting a different rig for 2 meters but I
spend my cash other places. At least my Kenwood HF rig is accessible.
