It might be a heat problem as Tom suggests; do what he said.
If that does not fix it, then strip out everything but one stick of memory
and the video card. See if that works. Then add pieces one-by-one.
If you want, you can try to boot without memory or video card to see if you
get the warning beeps. If not, it may be that the mb or cpu are no good, or
that you fried your cpu if you did not have a good connection to the heat
sink.
I am assuming that by "starts and runs" you mean for three seconds after you
push the button. If you mean that it goes into Windows and then shuts down,
then that is a whole new story; maybe heat or maybe software.
good luck

Subject: [PCBUILD] Building a new computer
I built a new computer last night and when I went to power it up for the
first time, it starts and runs for about 3 seconds, then shuts off. I have
built Intel machines before, this is my first AMD. Here are the specs:
Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 x 2 5600 processor, 4 gig
CORSAIR XMS2 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400, 2 500 gig Samsung HHD
raid, Leadtec 8800 640 mb video card, and a 630 watt power supply. Any idea
where to start looking? I took it apart twice and rebuilt with no luck.
Thanks!
