When I did my researching, the sensativity and selectivity were 
higher on the 480 than the 2000.  Everybody I know raves about icom 
receivers, but they were out of my budget, so I didn't look.  You 
might find the 746 pro around used by now.
If you do a web search, you will find the published specs for the radios.
Specs don't tell the story like driving the radio does.
