After I worked for a product distributor that made more money from selling ink in 55 gallon drums, than the $8,000 something dollar inkjet equipment, well you get the idea.
We called clearing the printhead a "purge" cycle.
Other fun field tech service calls were diagnosing customers who wanted to save ink by mixing methyl ethyl ketone and Isopropyl alcohol based inks together. It makes a thick tar like substance that really clogs up a printhead.
My experience is all printer companies make more money selling ink than selling the printing equipment.
