screen blank... i've seen two types....(1) steady monitor LED but no video and blank screen (2)blinking monitor LED and black screen

Hi,
it appears some sort of troubleshooting from scratch may help.
assuming your power supply is ok
(1)disconnect EVERYTHING (mouse/keyboard/memory/hdd/all peripherals)except video and, powerup. if you get somesort of beepsound then insert one of the memory sticks (here is the grey area since i do not know how many it has but basically you have to try all of them one by one) NOTE: AFTER DISCONNECTING POWER WHICH I AM SURE YOU KNOW)
(2)if you get a diff beep then connect the mouse and keyboard.
(3)if you get no beep/ post msg/bios at all then I would strongly suspect a dead mobo or cpu.

PS-- a dead cmos battery will not cause a "no-boot" to the best of my knoeledge.
