Yesterday afternoon Dave and I decided to take a step of faith.  A friend of 
ours was struggling with what to do.  For the third time in two years, her 
husband slapped her.  She said she had had it.  We talked about it and said, 
"Maybe she can visit us before she returns to her family."  So I set up the 
flight and funded the ticket.  With some misgivings, I told her about our 
invitation and asked her if she would like to come.  She said she would and 
that she was never going back there.  I felt that by having her visit us, 
she would get some time to think before she ended the marriage and returned 
to her own country.  So she is on her way here this morning.  We'll be 
meeting her this afternoon.  I hope she is all right and has had some time 
to continue her thinking.  Please pray this will offer her the time to think 
and regroup before she goes back.  I certainly didn't want to start an 
international incident, but I wanted to give her the breathing room that 
could possibly cause him to seek help or help her return home whichever 
course he chose.  Or it might give her time to decide to get counseling 
before she returns home.  I just don't know.
