Sidibeh,
I completely agree with you but since it has found its way here, I guess
these
sentences needs to be trashed and put in its proper context.
In the letter "I am to convey to you that the NADD Executive has rejected
your proposal to expand the UDP/NRP informal Alliance to include NADD. In
the
same vein the proposal for the flag bearer not to have a one term limit is
also
rejected. "
If UDP/NRP wants genuine alliance I believe they will have to revisit the
NADD
MOU and renegotiate any provision they consider unacceptable as stated
clearly
in this letter. There no need to pretend any more we have to face the hard
fact
that there is a high chance that the coalition under UDP, NRP, NDAM and
PDOIs
will never take place so we have to cut our losses and rally around NADD.
Those
who still believe in negations to bring the parties together can still go on
but
I for one think that it is better to dedicate ones energy in strategies to
bring
Jammeh down come next election.
In the letter" Finally, the proposal for a new Alliance to concentrate on
changing the regime and then discuss all programs after the change has
occurred
is also rejected."
The above proposal is completely unacceptable for any serious minded
person or
party. How can parties agreed to come together and then later discuss their
programs. I for one will never vote for such an alliance.
In the letter: "This is why we have suggested for UDP/NRP to revisit the
NADD
MOU and renegotiate any provision they consider unacceptable. The position
of
flag bearer has always been negotiable since the NADD flag bearer had
declared
that he is willing to step down once a person who can best serve as a
unifying
factor is found."
I believe that UDP/NRP is given the green light and they should really
think
through this and come out with a better solution. Until now they have not
come
out concrete issues that need to be dealt with. Now that the door is open
for
them to revisit the MOU and renegotiate, I strongly believe that they should
take this opportunity if they are genuinely in for this alliance.
The Struggle Continues!!
