Windows 7 includes a virtual XP mode where you have XP pro running within
Windows 7. Although this is slower than if you had XP installed as its own
OS, it does run applications quite well. I find this mode preferable to
having to boot to an alternate OS.
If you still want to install XP as an alternate boot, then I would recommend
that you first repartition the drive to have a separate partition to contain
XP. This can be done with free programs such as Partition Guru. For more
information on the dual boot, see this link:

Subject: add os to win7
I have a friend who has a laptop with XPpro and a second laptop (new) with
Win7.
He would also like to have XPpro as a second OS. Can somebody run me through
the procedure if it has been done? Thank you for your help, Alan Smith
