Does the radio have a simple mode? for new users and such where you can't 
mess it up too bad? if so, maybe next time you might put it in that mode. I 
know the TM-G707A has a mode like that. What if you hit the programmable 
memory button again? or how ever you disable them? Maybe that will get it 
back the way you want?  that's a strange one though I don't know what 
setting would do that. I'd say bad lithium battery except it's keeping the 
frequencies in memory.

As I said, you might be right on the partial or "soft" re-set, but when I
re-program the VFO'S to the frequencies I want, turn the rig off, and then
power it up again, I go back to 144.000 and 440.000.  I also notice now that
when I turn the rig back on, my memories for both VFO's go back to memory
number one, regardless of what memories I was in when last using the rig.

This is why I'm wondering if something was done with one of the "program
memories", which I never use.

I guess this is one of the risks with allowing one of your radios to be used
in a general ARES communications deployment.
