If you use the "File and Transfer Wizard" from the Accessories you can not
only back up your message database, but you can also grab all your other OE
settings. The account settings and any rules are kept in the registry and
the File and Transfer Wizard will grab them all. This tool is also great
for backing up many other Windows settings, just tell the Wizard what
applications you want to transfer.

Subject: Re: Off Topic - Outlook Express Question

Hi Bob,

The path to your Outlook Express Mail files (DBX type) are in Windows XP:

c:\documents and settings\<computer user name>\local settings\application
data\identities\<large variable hexidecimal folder name>\Microsoft\outlook
Express. In Windows versions earlier than XP, the path is the same
beginning with application data.

There is a program called DB Extract available from the JFW Lite page under
programs that will extract the mail messages from the DBX files as Microsoft
Mail Files (.EML) extensions.
