Just some short comments and I'm going to re-ask a question I put out here
previously. I'm slightly caught up with my email so I shouldn't miss too
much. First I'll say that you are all lucky with the Kenwood radios because
of the memory and direct frequency capability. My ic735 has twelve memories
which I can't access with speech and there is no keypad access unless you
use the pc. I've done that at points but I'd much rather learn and get use
to working with the radio itself and relying as less on the computer as
possible. With that in mind, since I haven't really been following the
numerous posts about the ts480, what distinctive features does that radio
have compared to the other kenwoods? I know it has the 200 wot output for
hf, but does it have other modes and functions?

I'm thinking about getting a TS-2000 actually some time this winter, I don't
know if I can do that with the 570 or not, I don't use the memories on my HF
gear much.

You're so right. It was quite a radio for its day. I loved mine.
Actually in their later stuff such as the 450 and so forth, you couldn't
directly access a memory from the keypad as you could on the 440.
Fortunately, you can now with the 2000 and 480.

I have both, bought a 480 used, and think the 480 for the dough is a hard
radio to beat. I wish they had made some provison to attach the remote
head directly to the radio. I think having the remote head separate and
then having the mike jack on the radio is a little strange.
