DOn't use the main subject of this thread at all, don't use
any of their products and see no relevance on a ham radio
list, but this topic has turned into something interesting.

true enough, but that having been said if you're looking for
audio gear such as a microphone preamp for recording
etcetera stay from the so-called tube preamps you might find
at Guitar center and the budget so-called pro-audio stores
such as those made by ARt etc.
Figure if it's tube gear and it's powered by a wall wart
it's not real tube gear.  IT's the starved plate to get it
todistort so the wanna be cool recording in their basement
guys will think they got that real warm tube sound.
Big thread on rec.audio.pro as some dipstick was considering
one of these to at some so-called warmth to his voice-over
recordings.
