Hi, My friend has Phillips mp3 player that suddenly is seen as a "fixed storage device" that will not allow any changes you can write to it but not erase or delete anything.  I thought that he may have set the read only switch but that is not the case.  Also it is only this way on one machine.  the others see a removable storage device as they should.  My thought is to remove the device frome the hardware list and have xp reinstall it correctly? I hope.  I do not know how to change device properties in XP home.  Jerry
