Sometimes you can turn off the beeper by installing the management 
software and using the interface cable.  I also miss the DIP switches on 
the back of the units and have considered opening up the case and using 
electrical tape to dampen the noise that the beeper makes.

APC also sells UPSs that have the alarms disabled (in the Smart-UPS line 
for sure, maybe in others).
