Okay, Sharon. Here's my experience of God's sense of humor:

When I was in my early 20's, I really really really wanted to get a
guide dog. I love animals, and thought it would be cool to have a
dog be my guide. Well, around that time, I happened to be reading
the book of Isaiah. I'd read through all the "good" (in quotes)
chapters, and was now on chapter 56. After reading a few verses, I
told God, "Lord, this is boring. It has nothing to do with me! I
want to read something that's relevant, like whether or not to get a
guide dog." Then I started reading around verse 10: "Israel's
watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs,
they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to
sleep. They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have
enough." I stopped there, right in the middle of verse 11 and kind
of half-chuckled, figuring it was just an amusing coincidence. Then
deciding to take advantage of the situation and pray about it, I
said, "Well, Lord, I've heard German shepherds are pretty intelligent
dogs." Then I started to read again. The very next words say, "They
are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own
way, each seeks his own gain." (Honest, this really happened; I'm
not making this up. And I knew nothing about that particular
scripture passage before this!) I don't think God was expressing His
opinion of guide dogs, but rather telling me specifically that I
shouldn't get one. And as it turns out, for the particular life
style I have, a guide dog wouldn't be the best choice, although I'll
never say never to that option. <grin> But I'm always amused how
God got back at me for saying the scripture I was reading was boring,
and asking for something about whether or not to get a guide dog. <grin>
