Not only is celiac getting lots of serious press (thanks to those who work hard to promote awareness), but in this Sunday's comics there was a cartoon about it!

It's the Rhymes With Orange cartoon by Hillary B. Price.

It's a barn scene labeled, "Today's Barnyard Blues" and shows a cat complaining that he's lactose intolerant, a squirrel complaining that he's allergic to nuts, and a horse bemoaning that he's gluten-intolerant!

Please don't beat me up because celiac isn't funny. If we can't laugh at ourselves, all the gf food in the world isn't going to make us happy. I was hysterical when I saw it because the artist depicted what happens whenever we go out to eat with friends....everyone at the table has another food problem. The significance to me is that the artist saw gluten-intolerance as something well-known enough to put it in her cartoon! Major progress in public awareness.
