Hi.
I'm not sure who made the antenna, but I have an "extended duck" antenna
for my HT that is a slightly shortened quarter wave on 2 meters and a 5/8
wave on 70 cm. It works much better than the stock antenna for my Icom
IC-T7H, and it is very durable. It is a heavier antenna than the long
cat's whisker antennas, but I actually like the heavier antennas better
than the cat's whisker antennas.
While one might think that the cat's whisker antenna would put less strain
on the connector on the radio, the opposite seems to be true--because these
antennas are so flexible, they are constantly bobbing around and putting
leverage on the connector. After having had a couple of BNC's break loose
from the radio, I stopped using them.
