Greetings--
I can't imagine damaging SLI-ready memory by its use in a non-SLI motherboard. SLI-ready basically means the RAM is designed/constructed with E.P.P. (or maybe it's A.P.P.)--Extended Performance Profiles (Advanced Performance Profiles), which allow it to 'run' at higher clock speeds. Having recently built an SLI system (bit with only one video card), I used OCZ SLI-ready RAM which allowed me to clock it at 1066.66 MHz. As I understand it, a non-SLI motherboard simply will not have the 'options' in the CMOS/BIOS to access the additional performance profiles, so your 800 MHz memory should simply use the profile(s) accessible to the motherboard's chipset. Utilizing it later in an SLI-ready motherboard should simply "unlock access" to the additional profiles.
HTH.
