No go yet. I tried the Network Setup Wizard but wound up losing my internet 
connection altogether. Then I powered down my cable modem and router and 
both the LAN connection and Internet Connection icons were restored, along 
with my internet service. It's awfully confusing, since everything seemed to 
be working peachy before this conflict. Now the system-tray icon will have 
the little red "X" denoting no service, but the wireless signal and internet 
are actually working fine. If I uncheck the "Let Windows configure wireless" 
box, the "good" wireless system-tray icon reappears.
